On April 29th 2008 the album Whisper War by The Cab was released. The album was produced by Patrick Stump and Matt Squire. The album was released via Fueled by Ramen & Decaydance. The band teased multiple singles on MySpace and the album cover features singer Alex Deleon‘s little sister, Sophia.

Before the album even charted Blender named them #42 on their top hot 100 report.

Brendon Urie and Patrick Stump are features on the album’s first single “One of Those Nights.” The single also has a music video showing the band gearing up for a show. The video also features Pete Wentz. The next single “I’ll Run” had over 4,350,000 plays on myspace and was featured in the movie The House Bunny. The last single Bounce was featured on a download code for the popular video game Rockband 2. The band supported Dashboard Confessional and Panic at the Disco on the official Rockband Live Tour.

Whisper War debuted at #108 on the Billboard 200 chart and #1 on Billboard’s top Heatseekers chart. It stayed in that position for 17 weeks. The single Bounce reached #69 on the Pop 100 airplay chart, but despite all of the success, the album sold 67,000 units.

The band toured with Panic at the Disco, We the Kings, Metro Station, The Higher, Cobra Starship, There for Tomorrow, Forever the Sickest Kids, Dashboard Confessional, Plain White Tees, the Hush Sound and Hey Monday. One of the first tours for Whisper War was the Dance Across the Country Tour with The Hush Sound, Steel Train and The Morning Light. This tour featured the first show for Hey Monday at The Culture Room in South Florida. In September they began the Why So Serious tour with This Providence, Hey Monday and A Rocket to the Moon. At the tail end of Whisper War’s reign the band joined the Bamboozle Road Show with The Secret Handshake, A Rocket to the Moon, Eye Alaska, Anarbor, The Summer Set and My Favorite Highway.

On one of these tours their touring van flipped over on black ice.

The band was also featured on Punk Goes Pop 2.

The original members of the band were present throughout this time. In 2009 before the band’s next EP released Alex Deleon announced the departure of guitarist Ian Crawford.

The band and their fans continue to celebrate April 29th as The Cab Day. Over the years the band has done special events on this day, however, it has now dwindled to social media shout outs.

Alex Deleon shared that Diddy once told him his hair smelled good and was pretty.
